Hiking

The weather has been usually warm the past few weeks and so we wanted to get out and take advantage of all the sun. It was so nice to get outside after feeling cooped up all winter. We went hiking with Kevin and Allye on the Academy. It wasn't too steep, in fact it there were a lot of parts that were flat (maybe it was a walk not a hike). Samantha ran the WHOLE time. She would run ahead of the group then run back to us then run ahead again. I was watching her in pure amazement. Not only does it take a lot of energy to run that whole time (we were gone for at least an hour) but it was such a change from the last time we went. Every other time we've tried to hike, or even walk, she whines and wants to be carried after a few minutes. It drove me crazy because we couldn't go anywhere. It was nice to have her happy and energetic this time. Paul was a little sad because he couldn't keep up with her and kept getting left behind. Samantha would come back and try to help him but she would forget and would rush ahead again. I finally decided to tell Paul that he and I were on a treasure hunt and we would look for special rocks. It worked pretty well and we made it the rest of the way without too many tears from him.
