Here We Go

Sammi using her underwear as a hat. Yes this was her idea, no we are not potty training yet.

Let me start off with what Samantha has started saying. For those of you who don't know Samantha's middle name is Elizabeth. Anyway, we were in church on Sunday and Paul was trying to grab her books. She looks at Paul, puts her hand under his chin (that's what I do to her when I'm tryin to get her to look at my face and really focus) and tells him, "Paul, don't take my books. Elizabeth!" I guess when I say Samantha Elizabeth, stop doing that; she thinks that Elizabeth is another phrase that means stop. She has continued to tell me "Elizabeth" whenever I'm doing something she doesn't like.

Now, I know it's been awhile since I've posted what's going on in our lives, so for those of you who are interested, here's the rundown...

We will be living with my parents for the next year while we replenish our savings/save for a down payment on a new house. Luckily their basement is (almost) a self contained apartment. It doesn't have a full kitchen, but it's not missing anything else. The kids have really enjoyed being with my parents, and it's nice to have the extra hands. In fact, Samantha prefers my mom over everyone else. Adam was playing with her the other day and she told him. "Daddy I'm done." Adam asked what she was done with and she said, "done with you, I'm ready for some Brama time." (Brama is what she calls my mom.) Here's another conversation to help illustrate this fact.

Sammi-Mommy, what are you doing?
Cory- I'm reading, what do you need?
S-Could you please stay here, Brama and I are going to have alone time. (This is said as she's leaving my room and closing the door)
*5 min later, I'm walking into Samantha's room where she and my mom are playing
C- Can I come in and play?
S-NO
C-Well, what should I do?
S-Umm....you could go in your room and cry.

Nice. I think we have firmly estabilished that the order of prefrence is my mom, my dad, Paul, her babies, and finally Adam and I. ;)

Adam has had a few interviews and although we're pretty confident Adam's a perfect canidate, with the job market the way it is there are a lot of qualified people out there. In the meantime, it's been REALLY nice to have him home all the time. The more time he is spending with us, the harder he's been looking for jobs, hmmm....

I have been toutoring a girl in our ward in math 4 days a week. It's been really nice to have something to do that gets us out of the house. Samantha and Paul love going over there so it also gives me a nice break while they play with someone new. I also had my birthday which was so fun because Adam was home and we got to hang out the whole day. Other than that, I've just been enjoying having so much family close.

As mentioned, Samantha is loving family out here. In addition to my parents, she asks all the time to go see Grammie and Ji-chan (Adam's mom and dad) who live about 15 min away and my neices who live in Denver. Paul is still happy and sweet, although he does not seem to tolerate teething very well. Since we've moved here he's: gotten 3 teeth, started sleeping 12+ hours a night (7 months old), standing (not on his own), and talking all the time. He still isn't crawling, but he can go from sitting to his knees and back. I'm sure it'll be soon that he'll take off.

We are thinking about going back to Utah sometime in the next few weeks so that Adam can take his real estate test before he forgets everything. He took the classes, and just needs to take the test. We think it'll be a good "just in case" option. We're also coming back in the spring for his graduation. We really are blessed and are happy with all that's been happening the last few months. Here are some pictures...in order....of the crazy weather here (high 60's one day, 30's the next)

We Miss You All!!

I knew we had some great friends in Utah, but I don't think I fully appreciated you all until we left. I figured after a few weeks Samantha would stop talking about her friends and start getting used to the idea that we were in Colorado for good. Friday (a little over 2 months after we got here) we were making cookies and Sammi kept saying, "these cookies are for my Kimmy and my Brad." Then tonight after she was in bed Adam and I heard her talking on her phone (no it's not real) saying "Hi Jason and Talmage, this is me, what are you doing? Want to come to my house to play?" She asks about everyone in "moo-tah" daily and asks when we're going back to our house. She has also decided that she will go to the bathroom in the potty, "when I'm a little bit bigger and in my house in moo-tah." Thank you to everyone who made our time in Utah wondeful and know that you are loved by our family and greatly missed.
